Our Horse Heroes!
Winston Churchill once said, "there is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." We couldn't agree more.
Our horses are valued members of the greenhill Therapy team and are what set us apart from traditional physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs. Our horses are big and small and come in many colors. Each has his or her own distinct "horsenality." The children who participate in therapy at Greenhill each have their favorite, but we love them all. Most of our horses have been generously donated to Greenhill Therapy and some others are on loan to us. If you have a horse you would like to consider donating or loaning to our program, we would be happy to talk to you and evaluate your horse.
CHARLIE -
An Arabian white/gray gelding who was a previous show pony. Charlie has good movement and is very peppy. He often remembers his show days with a prance or two around the arena.
CAPTAIN -
He is a sturdy brown and white paint gelding who is been with Green Hill since the beginning. He is a real character and the children seem to respond to him very well.
DAISY -
Is the “foundation mare” of Green Hill. She has been with us since the very beginning and does a great job of taking care of our littlest patients. Although she is pony size, she rules the barn!
DAISY MAE -
This is our “other” Daisy. She is a black and white paint mare and cute as can be. She is the smaller size of Captain and is used mostly with our younger patients.
HUEY -
a chestnut thoroughbred gelding. Huey came to us as a rescue horse. He is truly a gentle giant and very good natured. He is larger than most of the other horses so he can accommodate small and larger children.
MICKEY -
He is our other pony and such a treat! Don’t let his gray face fool you. He might be old, but he sure doesn’t act like it. He still got a few tricks up his “hoof!”
SNAZZY -
His name suits him! He is a chestnut paint gelding and a really sweet guy. He is one of our larger horses which makes him very versatile with our patients. He is extremely gentle with our patients and is another one we like to take to horse shows.
THUNDER -
He is a liver chestnut gelding with lots of heart. He may be a little on the big side, but he always takes good care of the kids on his back.
CINNAMON -
Cinammon is an 18 year old Welsh Pony mix. She has been with our program for 2 years and although she can be a bit cranky, she works well with the children and especially loves to led around by the children themselves!
